Understanding SME experiences in accessing finance and late payments

The Need

The client, a fintech innovator that provides invoice funding, needed to understand SME business needs and experiences of accessing finance. The client also needed to understand the prevalence and impact of late payments on those businesses. As it was the second wave of the study, the client was able to keep their finger on the pulse of changing attitudes and practices.

Our Approach

We surveyed 500 senior decision-makers at Small and Medium businesses (0-249 employees) across the UK. Conducted as a part of the SME omnibus, the project was cost-effective with a turnaround of about two weeks from the first questionnaire draft to final data delivery.

The Outcome

The research was used to form the basis of a response to a Call for Evidence from the UK government about SME finance. It was also used to create a whitepaper report and received coverage in national and trade media. The findings were also used in reactive commentary and for award entries for which the client was shortlisted.
