Voting Intention – 8th June
8th June 2012
Labour have held on to their 11 point lead with 42% of the vote compared to 31% for the Conservatives, 9% for the Liberal Democrats and 8% for UKIP.
David Cameron’s net job approval rating has recovered a little but is still behind Labour leader Ed Miliband due to the high figure disapproving of his performance (54%).
- Labour remain above the 40% barrier for the second consecutive poll with 42% being their highest expected share of the vote since the 2010 general election. This is also the second time that the Labour figure has been greater than the total for both coalition parties
- The Lib Dems (9%) and UKIP (8%) are almost tied for third place with only 4 respondents separating the two parties
- David Cameron’s approval rating has improved marginally with 30% of likely voters approving of his job performance while 54% disapprove. His net approval rating has therefore improved to -24% from last month’s record low -27%
- Ed Miliband’s net approval rating is better on -18% but this is due to his having lower figures for both approval and disapproval. 24% approve while 42% disapprove. 35% neither approved not disapproved compared to just 15% who say that for Mr Cameron and 26% for Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg
- Mr Clegg’s net approval rating remains at -46% with both his approval and disapproval figures declining by a point to 14% and 60% respectively

Opinium Research carried out an online survey of 1,962 GB adults aged 18+ from 8th to 11th June 2012. Results have been weighted to nationally representative criteria.
Interview Method and Sample
This survey is conducted online by CAWI (computer aided web interviewing), using Opinium?s online research panel of circa 30,000 individuals. This research is run from a representative sample of GB adults (aged 18+ in England, Scotland and Wales). The sample is scientifically defined from pre-collected registration data containing gender, age (18-34, 35-54, and 55+), region (North East, North West, Yorkshire and Humberside, East Midlands, West Midlands, East of England, London, South East, South West, Wales, and Scotland), working status and social grade to match the latest published ONS figures.
Opinium also takes into account differential response rates from the different demographic groups, to ensure the sample is representative.
