Summer holidays more expensive than Christmas

Hard to think of ideas to keep children entertained

According to research by Opinium, on behalf of Epson EcoTank Printers, parents find the summer holidays more expensive than Christmas for keeping their children fed and entertained.

A survey among 2,000 parents of children aged between 3 and 13 years old found that, on average, parents expect to spend £1,445 per child on activities over the summer holidays – which is around £408 more per child than they would spend during the Christmas break. Those who took part in the survey were asked to estimate how much they planned to spend on activities such as trips to the cinema, going on play dates with friends, meals out, food shopping and summer clubs. The research also found that most parents (58%) admitted to running out of ideas for how to entertain their children by the third week of the long summer break and just under half (48%) feel the summer holidays are too long.Read more about this research in articles by AOL travel news and MailOnline
