Investor Sentiment
There has been an improvement in how investors see their investment performance. There has been an increase in how investors rate the current performance of their investments, and a reduction in the proportion that think their investments will get worse in the next 12 months.

The war in Iran is still at the forefront of investor’s minds and remains their biggest concern about their investments, however the level of concern has fallen significantly since Q1. Concerns also remain high about other geopolitical tensions, energy prices, inflation and general economic conditions in the UK.

Investor Opportunity
The UK remains seen as the best investment opportunity by UK investors. For the first time since Q3 ’25 there has been an improvement in how the US is seen and it remain seen as the next best place to invest. There has also been a significant improvement in how technology is seen and it remain seen as the best sector to invest in by a clear 10pp in Q2 ’26. Energy remains second with healthcare third. A large proportion don’t know the best market or sectors to invest in.

Kier Starmer’s resignation: Impact on UK investor sentiment
UK investors were asked what impact they think Kier Starmer’s resignation will have on various aspects of investing. The overwhelming response was neutral. However, its worth noting that nearly 10% more investors thought that the resignation would have a positive impact on their own investments than thought it would have a negative impact. For the other metrics asked, positive and negative sentiment is more balanced.

FCA Targeted support
The majority of UK investors have not heard of ‘Targeted Support.’ Young investors are more familiar with it than older investors. Given an explanation about how it works, 30% of investors say they would be likely to take targeted support to help make important financial decisions vs 39% unlikely. Young investors aged 18-34 are far more open to using it 52% likely vs 53% of 55+ year old investors who say they are unlikely to use it.
