Have you got Ozempic FOMO?

New Opinium thought leadership reveals that 11 million Brits would be open to weight loss drugs. 22% of those who haven’t used weight loss drugs – equivalent to around 11 million UK adults, say they would be open to doing so. Millennials are most receptive, a third are open to trying them, compared to 14% of Boomers.

Our insights also show that FOMO is a real driver. Nealy one in ten (9%) would consider weight loss drugs because everyone else is doing it, and they do not want to miss out.

There remains an ethical divide on medical use – two fifths of adults believe using diabetic medication for weight loss is an unethical use of medical resources, rising to nearly half of Gen Z, but dropping to a third of Gen X.

When it comes to side effects, women are significantly more aware of examples such as nausea (39% vs 21% of men) and pancreatic problems (28% vs 19% of men).
