Opening the Conversation: Mental Wellbeing in Marcoms Agencies

In early 2021, Opinium, partnered with The Alliance of Independent Agencies, in order to explore mental wellbeing in the marcoms sector. The aim of research was to explore attitudes to wellbeing over the past 12 months, whilst also exploring attitudes on returning to the workplace following lockdown easing.

The report found that in the past 12 months, 96% of marcoms professionals had experienced poor mental health, whilst 41% of those who didn’t take time off for their mental health said this was because they had too much work to do.

Key findings include:

  • Heavy workloads and impending deadlines are the main stressors
  • Employees don’t speak about the mental wellbeing at work
  • Employees want to see their agency do more to tackle burnout culture
  • Employees want a hybrid working model going forward

Explore the key research findings, and delve into the recommendations for addressing each of the challenges within your own agency, understand why burnout, heavy workload, and normalising conversations about mental health are key issues and identify solutions and gain actionable tips for management and senior-leaders
