The UK backs The FA in FIFA corruption row
With 9 in 10 (89%) football fans* agreeing with FA Chairman Greg Dyke that the credibility of the sport is suffering enormously under the current FIFA regime, it was clear to see that there are a lot of strong opinions surrounding the issue.
According to our research, 41% of football fans rated FIFA an embarrassing 1 out of 10 for how trustworthy they are and 89% agree that urgent action is needed if confidence in FIFA is to be rebuilt.
The scandal has not only affected football fans as 1 in 5 (18%) parents say they are now less enthusiastic about encouraging their child to play football – a figure that increases to 32% amongst 18-34 year olds.
Former FA Chairman David Bernstein proposed boycotting the 2018 World Cup due to the lack of transparency in the FIFA decision making process. Despite this being the pinnacle of sport for many football fans, a huge 67% of them agree.
