With half (49 per cent) of Brits planning to sit down and watch the tennis tournament, excitement is mounting for the event of the summer season. Andy Murray fever is beginning to build with one in 10 (10 per cent) believing he?ll raise the trophy in the final ? although the majority (48 per cent) believe he?ll only get to the semi finals.

The public believe that Rafael Nadal (48 per cent) will come out on top beating Roger Federer (19 per cent) in the men?s final, and Serena Williams (19 per cent) will be crowned champion when playing against her sister Venus (13 per cent) in the women?s tournament.

However all is not lost for Murray as half (51 per cent) believe he is likely to win Wimbledon during his career, and three quarters (72 per cent) think he?s likely to win one of the three other major Tennis opens.

For those lucky enough to get tickets, issues may await as tube strikes have been planned during the championships. Half (52%) of those hoping to go are worried about how it will affect their journey as it will surely add time and hassle to their day.

Opinium Research carried out an online survey of 2,019 UK adults aged 18+ from 10th to 13th June 2011. Results have been weighted to nationally representative criteria.
